MANTECA—PG&E is upgrading overhead electric wires to increase capacity and improve electric service reliability for customers in Manteca. This work is part of PG&E’s overall effort to upgrade the electric system to benefit customers in the area.
The project began this month with work taking place south of Yosemite Avenue between Union Road and Locust Avenue.
“We are confident that the power line upgrades will result in fewer power outages and allow for faster restoration when an outage does occur. We understand that any time we are working to complete projects it affects our customers and we appreciate their understanding,” said Nick Glero, manager of PG&E’s Stockton Division.
The work will include upgrading more than 2,900 feet of power lines, replacing power poles and other related equipment and is expected to be completed by the first week of May, depending on weather conditions.
To ensure the safety of our customers, the public and our employees, PG&E will post “No Parking” signs at least 72 hours in advance of the project beginning, along with some potential temporary closures of some nearby roads or public spaces. This work may also cause the need for a temporary service interruption. Any impacted customers will be notified in advance of planned power outages.
Traffic may be routed around work areas. Although some driveways may be occasionally affected, crews can provide access within a few minutes of a customer’s request. However, please plan ahead for minor delays if crews are working outside your home or business.
PG&E continues to make significant progress in electric reliability that benefits customers throughout its service area. The utility has delivered record electric reliability for six straight years. Since 2009, PG&E has consistently reduced the average duration of power outages, and in 2014 customers experienced the fewest number of outages in company history.
